Off Roading

This week has been BEAUTIFUL here!  It's been AWESOME!  I decided it was high time I went for a run.  I have been waiting to get the car seat attachment for the stroller but I don't want to shell out 90 bucks for it {that's almost as much as we paid for the stroller!}.  So I just reclined the seat as far as I could and strapped the princess in as best I could.  I think we're going to forgo the car seat attachment.  ANYWAY, I forgot how long it takes to get ready for a run when kids are coming along!  It took me AN HOUR to change, feed and dress them, plus get snacks for the little man along the way.  I'm glad though, it was well worth the extra effort!

This is where we ran {slash walked}.  Along the lake the entire way!

 They were such good sports!  That trail got a little rough...
 I mean ROUGH!  Do you see those TREES that have fallen across the trail?  These were NOT the big ones either!  I was having to lug and pull and lift and push that double stroller full of tater tots over and under trees.  THAT was a major workout!!
But the view was stunning!
 And it wasn't ALL rough going
 We saw lots of birds.
We got all the way to the end of the trail only to find that the gate was closed so instead of being able to make a loop.... we had to turn around and go all the way back through the jungle of trees!!

I couldn't RUN the whole time.  I'm trying so hard to not compare myself with marathon self but it's hard when running a single mile is so difficult!  Frustrating!  Every so often though I would do log jump {instead of box jumps} and I did some push ups.  And one cool thing about being on an Army Post is they have PT stuff EVERYWHERE so along this trail they have stations to do workouts, so I did some monkey bars and incline pushups.  Next time I will try a few more of the stations {after I ask the man in camo what to do with them all!}.

Pyramid Track Workout

Today we had a big group at the track!  It was an AWESOME workout!! We had a lot of girls there today and even a new face!!  I can not tell you how great these groups are!  I know I say it ALL the time but I'm serious!  We have a wide range of physical abilities in this group and we all help each other do our best and push us to do big things!  Some girls are recovering from surgery or from recently having a baby!  Others are super tough chicks that kick some butt!  And we all gain from these workouts!!  If I could get you all to do ONE thing, it would be to start talking to people and start a workout group like this!!!

So.... Anyway.... Ü

Today we met at the track and K-Lo had a GREAT workout for us!  You can walk the 400's instead of running them if you need to.

To Race or Not to Race?

I recently found out that the Dam Races might not happen after all this year.  It's kind of a spendy race at $30 for the 5K.  So there is talk of having a family reunion that weekend instead.  Don't get me wrong, a family reunion will be great!  But I was really looking forward to running in the Dam Races again.  I hadn't completely decided on which race but it would have been the 5K or the 10K {which is the same price as the 5K}.

The Jackson Hole Half is my favorite race of all time.  But I feel completely unprepared for it.  I keep telling myself that it would be worth it even to WALK half of it but I got my PR there last year and I REALLY want to beat it.  2:00.48.  POINT FOUR EIGHTHS of a second!!!  That's all I needed to break the 2 hour mark!  That kills me!!  But I know I'm not there.  Could I get there by then?  I would like to say YES.  I have 7 weeks until race day.  My miles aren't entirely off.  But...

I didn't get in any good runs this past week.  And it's proving very difficult to get the right number of miles in.  A jogger stroller would be Heaven sent but the one I REALLY want is too spendy for the next long while and I don't want to get a cheaper one because I know it will mean I'll never get the nicer one.  Plus if I wait until after I finish my personal trainer certification, that stroller will be a tax write off!  So until then I continue to run on the treadmill.  It's getting more and more difficult as those miles get higher up there.  Definitely not my favorite way to run!

It helps my training significantly when I have a race to work toward.  I haven't ran a race just for me nearly 8 months!!  I have no idea where my race pace is right now.  I have no idea what kind of goal to put on myself.  I want to race to enjoy the race but the Cooke Competitiveness gets me calculating and I don't know if I could take it easy.

So I continue to try and train, even if it isn't consistent enough.  I still have a little while to decide for sure before I have to pay dues.  But apparently I'm still struggling to find what I'm working toward right now.

Fartleks

Today I met with my girls at the track for a running workout that I put together!  I decided to go with some speed training via Fartleks.  It felt SO good to push myself hard like that.  It felt AMAZING to run outside {I'm tellin ya, this treadmill stuff is poopy}.  Though I jumped on the treadmill when I got home so I could log some miles.  I do have some races to train for afterall!  I feel so good right now!!

Here's our workout from today:

Warm Up ~ 1 mile jog
easy stretch
Fartleks {repeated twice}
100m x 4 {jog, run, jog, run}
200m x 2 {jog, run}
400m x 2 {jog, run - sprinting the last 100m}
Bonus ~ Stairs x 10 {9 stairs for a total of 90... next time I think we'll do MORE}
Cool down ~ 400m
Really good stretch!!

Race Training Challenge

So I've got a LITTLE conundrum.  I finally decided on what my new goal is: two races for the summer.  That's it.  CRAZY low number considering I ran 12 last year.  But I picked my favorite race of all time {Go HERE to read about me running it last year}, the Jackson Hole Half.  And I am positively GIDDY about running it again.  And the other is my mecca race {go HERE & HERE ; it was my first race since high school, my first 5K, my first full marathon.  And apparently I've got a lot of family who will be running different races this year!  It's dually sentimental too, this year is the 35th year since the break of the Teton Dam.

Doesn't sound like much of a conundrum does it?!  Well the challenge comes in this fact.  The elevation of St. Robert Missouri is 831 feet above sea level.  The elevation of Rexburg Idaho is 4865 feet!  And the elevation for Jackson Hole?!  That would be 6237.  The air down here is THICK!  I have a hard time breathing when I run here {strange I know considering the oxygen content is so much higher}, it's hard to explain but it really feels like it's HARDER to take in this thicker air!  Now how will it affect me to transition from running HERE and racing THERE?!  Will I immediately get in to my groove and breathe easily or will I be acclimated to this air and struggle to get enough oxygen up there?

I've tried reading up on the subject and I've gotten conflicting messages.  Some say that after a couple days at the higher elevation it should be fine {I will be home for about a week before race #1}.  Some say it takes a month.  Some say it doesn't make a difference unless your running over 8000 feet.  There are the die hards that sleep in altitude tents for 6 weeks at home before traveling to the race.  Ginkgo Biloba regiments.  Breathing hypoxic gas mixtures while training at home.  The list is pretty endless and obviously I'm not at THAT level of competition.

My game plan?  Well.  Nothing really.  I'm going to train here.  When I get home I have some runs planned, one is a long one {11 miles on my 11 year anniversary... Remember LAST year?}.  But this year isn't about breaking any PRs.  I am ONLY running to ENJOY the run.  So if it's harder to breathe, I'll back off so that I can still ENJOY the run!  On the same note... if it's EASIER... well, maybe I'll blow the doors off!

Non-Runners

Yesterday we went to a BBQ with friends.  One of them had just ran a marathon that morning!  I was SO JEALOUS!!!  Actually, when we first moved here I considered training up for it... until I realized it was on a Sunday.  BUMMER cause it would have been SO AWESOME!!  The finisher's medals were SWEET!!  I was TOTALLY living vicariously through him as he talked about it!  Obviously I'm not done running marathons!

But there was a certain someone present that I wanted to punch in the face.  He's in the Army.  He's fit.  He hates running.  He made no bones about it and was sure to tell the runners in the group how stupid they are for loving it and subjecting themselves to running TWENTY SIX point TWO miles {I was the only other one in attendance who had ran a marathon before}.

Now don't get me wrong, not everyone loves running and that is PERFECTLY fine with me.  I don't think any less of a person because they don't run.  But oh boy does it make my blood boil when people put others down because they DO!!!  Are you serious?!  You're really saying someone is STUPID because they love to RUN?!  Since WHEN is running STUPID?  And running 26.2 miles is something to be proud of, NOT something to mock someone about!

It convinced me that the dude doing the mocking was definitely more brawn than brain!  And proud that I'm in the marathon finisher crowd!  Excited to go running today!  Excited for my next marathon {next year maybe?}.  Excited for my next race {in JUNE}!  Excited to be a RUNNER!!!

Running in the RAIN!

 Today was a big day!  Two of my kids ran a race with me.  Not so new; they've ran a few races now.  But this was the farthest we've let them run.  Prior to this we've only let them run up to 1 mile.  This was a 4 miler.  They were so stinking excited!  For WEEKS!!
And would you know it?  They did AWESOME!  We crossed the finish line in just over 46 minutes.  They learned so much about racing and running.  They have good technique for an 800m or 1600m but this was their first real distance run.  We talked about breathing.  Pacing yourself.  About keeping your upper body relaxed.  How to run hills {because I am YET to see a stretch of road here that is flat}.  Hydration.  Encouraging other racers.  It was so fun to run with them and see them do so well!  I am so proud of them.  They did better than I imagined and I am thrilled for them to experience running and racing for the rest of their lives... I hope!

1/2

I ran my first half marathon this weekend and I am SOLD! I picked this half specifically for the view. It's right up against the mountains, running from one ski resort to another. The bus ride out was a little nerve wracking due to the RAIN! But the minute the bus stopped, the rain stopped!

There were A LOT of REAL runners out there that morning! EVERYONE I talked to has ran a BIG marathon {New York, Denver, Boston, Houston...} or qualified for one already this year. I was a little intimidated but luckily I had predetermined that I was NOT going to push myself super hard, I was going to ENJOY this run! And enjoy it, I DID! The rain made everything smell SO good! The lilacs were in full bloom along with wild flowers all along the course. We crossed the river at least 10 times. It was absolutely stunning.

To finish it off they had the best after race everything I've experienced so far! Finisher's medals were cool {they matched the sweet shirt}. The printed off a paper at the finish that had your official time and standing; I came in at 2:00:48, 29th in my age division. The food was stellar: bagels, fruit, protein drinks, water, granola, granola bars and PIZZA! Raffle prizes were AWESOME {wish I had won one}.

Definitely a race I will be doing again.

I'm half way done with all the races I want to do this year! The hardest half lies ahead though! I've finished 3 5K's, 1 10K, 1 Half and 1 Full. That leaves 2 10K's, 2 Halves and 2 Fulls!! This Saturday I have a 10K {a Freedom Run} and two weeks later will be my second full marathon. I'm kinda nervous about that one; lots of hills, on gravel roads. But it's sentimental and I am way stoked for it!

I think it's safe to say that RACES keep me running; what keeps you motivated?

Family Affair

This past weekend was yet another race. This time, a 5K. My Mother-in-Law got in on the fun too! AND she even signed my oldest 2 up for the 1 mile fun run! It's pretty awesome to have this kind of thing be a family event! I LOVE sharing these experiences with loved ones!
I didn't blow any doors off but I did manage to get 2nd in my age division. I came in with a time of 23:54. I'm cool with that!After I finished we went and found Gramma and walked with her until just before the end. She did great!The two rug rats did a great job in their little race! They loved it, which is what matters most, right?! The pushed themselves and did their best! I am super proud of them!Showing off our medals!I haven't had much luck finding another fun run for these two but I hope to find them one more, maybe two!

**I am going to be hit and miss on the blog for the next few weeks. Lots of fun stuff planned, stay tuned for all the details!!

Bring it ON!

The BUSY race season has begun!! I am oh so excited for this sumer! This is what my SATURDAYS are going to look like for the next little while:

June
12-Marathon
19-5K
26-Half

July
3 -10K
10-Family Reunion
17-Marathon
24-Family Reunion
31-Vacation

August
7-Half
14-Distance Training Run
21-Distance Training Run
28-Marathon

I am really REALLY looking forward to these races, for very different reasons. For example:

My first ever marathon is next Saturday with my girls. We have been doing all our long distance runs together and we're sticking together for this race! It is going to be an amazing feeling to cross that finish line together.

The following week is a 5K. I am running this one with a very dear friend of mine. She and I are kindred spirits and we're going to have such a good time running together! I love your guts Medusa!!

After that is my first half marathon. It is ALL about the scenery!! This race has been calling my name for such a long time and I seriously can not wait to run it. I am hoping to feel very much at peace during this run; I'm not going to push it. I'm JUST going to ENJOY the run!

Then the following Saturday {I've never ran more than two races in a row, four is definitely pushing it} is a 10K. I have high hopes for this race. I want to push myself hard and see what I'm capable of. The 10K is probably my favorite race. And I'm very much excited for this one!

I'll keep you posted; wish me luck!

Track & Field

Tonight my kids had their very first track meet! It was FREEZING cold and windy. But they were excited and happy the whole time! These kids have been begging to run a 5K with me. I thought this would be a nice little introduction into racing. They did GREAT!

We talked about which races they wanted to enter and we decided to put them each in the 200m and the 400m. They also got to choose one field event so they both picked the softball throw.

They went out on the track to get warmed up and I got pretty nervous for them. Like I said, it was COLD and WINDY!

Enter Proud Parent:

My little man threw his softball 33 ft. He ran his 200m in 53.32 {7th} and his 400m in 1:48.77 {4th}! I was so proud of this little man for running that whole 400! He didn't stop to walk and he really pushed it! He did his best and he had fun! When he crossed that finish line I could tell that he left everything he had on the table. Exactly what we asked of him.

My sweet girl did awesome! She threw her softball 36.3ft {2nd}. She ran the 400, in 1:38.12 {2nd} and the 200m in 44.8 {1st}! What amazed me about this girl was we told her how to pace herself for the 400 and when to pour it on; she did EXACTLY what we told her! She turned it up a notch at 200m and started passing people, then she kicked it into 5th gear for that last 100m! It was a really fun race to watch!! She's so little and her short little legs were just goin... it was great!

I am sure proud of these two! It was a miserable day for a race but they had smiles on their faces and they had a blast! They really want to run more races and we're considering a kids triathlon.

Today we're starting a local Boot Camp for the family. It will start with a duathlon! Throughout the summer we're going to keep track of our water intake, fruit & vegetable servings, activity etc... keeping track of the points earned! We will meet every couple weeks to play soccer, volleyball, kickball etc, and end it with a second duathlon! The kids are all very excited. We're looking forward to having a lot of fun with it!!

10 For 10

Today is National Running Day. Are you going to run today? Tell me what your plans are!AND, it's my 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY!! Woah, did that ever go by fast! Hawkeye had an awesome idea for me to run 10 miles, one for every year of our marriage. But not only that, he suggested I think about each of those years during each of those miles! BRILLIANT! It was a great run and fun to think back on so many memories. Here are just a few I thought I'd share with ya'll:

1 ~ We started off with a beautiful wedding and outdoor reception. Our first apartment was TINY! I loved our long drives visiting family. Hawkeye bought me a piano for our first Christmas!!
2 ~ We decided to start a family. We traveled to Seattle to celebrate my Great Grandmother's 100th birthday {our baby girl would be named after her}. Hawkeye went surfing for the first time & got into kayaking. I started teaching piano lessons.
3 ~ Baby girl arrives! We move twice this year, the second was our first home! Find out we're expecting baby #2!
4 ~ Baby boy arrives! Hawkeye is laid off and starts snowboard rental business, takes time off of school to focus on employment. That was a hard year!
5 ~ Expecting baby #3! Hawkeye enrolls back in school, changes jobs.
6 ~ Baby boy #2 arrives. Start building new home.
7 ~ Move into new home. Hawkeye graduates from college. Hawkeye surprises me with a violin for Christmas!! Start lessons immediately!
8 ~ Expecting baby #4! Hawkeye and I travel to Hawaii for 10 days of pure heaven! Come home to big promotion at work. Baby boy #3 arrives!
9 ~ Make big lifestyle changes as a family, lots of exercise. Remember how much I love running and races... I'm hooked.
10 ~ Sell our home. First big family vacation: San Diego and Disneyland! Accepted into the US Army's officer training program. Long weekend get-away to favorite ski resort, celebrating our engagement!

Obviously there are a million more memories from these last 10 years. We have had some difficult times and we've had some out of this world moments. We have worked hard and have seen so many of our dreams come true. This run was such a fun thing and I'm thinking I just might have to make it a tradition!

I love you Hawkeye! Forever & Ever babe!

First is the Worst of all the Game

This morning was race #2 of the year. My second 5K. I was super excited for this one though! I had a bunch of friends there running too AND it was a FREE race!! That's right, FREE! Because running was meant to be FREE!!

Here I am with a few of the Marathon Mamas!! Without these girls I really don't think I would be ready for our Marathon in 4 weeks! They have made those long runs not only do-able but ENJOYABLE!! Thanks girls! I love ya!My neighborhood girls!! A few of us have moved away from that neighborhood but I will forever be grateful that we moved there and I had the chance to meet these women. Great friends. Period.An old valley friend was there too!! Isn't this chick just GORGEOUS?!! When I run, I look like crap! She makes running look GOOD!!!I am still floored by my race this morning! I was planning on running it with a friend; it would have been her first race and she was nervous. But she hurt her knee and couldn't make it. So I really had to get my head in the game and decide what my game plan was. I don't think I had it figured out until after it started!! Annie caught up with me and basically said, LET'S DO THIS THING!! Okay. Let's do!!
Here is my little fan club! My kids made "Go Mom" signs and I literally almost cried when I ran past them!! It was an amazing feeling to have them cheering me on!!And I REALLY can't believe the results! FIRST in the woman's division! Holy Smokes!! I didn't quite beat my PR. I should have looked down at my watch!! I KNOW I could have beat it!! There was a guy who was trying to sneak up and pass me at the end but there was no way I was going to let that happen!! So I blew him out of the water!! {Oh, sorry... that's my competitive side talking. I try not to let her out very often}

I got a certificate and a loaf of super super yummy bread!! Wow. I am blown away!! Next Saturday I have my first 10K of the year. I REALLY want to beat my PR and I really think I can! Is there a stronger word for addicted?

Runner Food

I read THIS awesome article from Fitness Magazine. It's all about great foods for runners. I'll sum up:

1. Small bagel with peanut butter. This is the perfect thing to eat in the morning before a run. Great energy and staying power in here!

2. Bananas! These babies are a great source of potassium which helps regulate blood pressure and reduces the risk of stroke.

3. Berries. Berries are super yummy but in addition the have potassium and vitamin C which helps your body repair itself!! Feed those muscles people!

4. Broccoli. This green tree is a powerhouse!! Loaded with vitamin C, potassium, fiber, and phytochemicals! All of which are huge for peak performance and health!

5. Yogurt {they list low fat but this is one I don't skimp on}. Yogurt is loaded with Calcium AND protein!! Great for bone density and muscle food!!

6. Lean Beef. High in protein and iron! Did you know that an iron deficiency can lead to fatigue? Yep. Just another reason I love Beef... after all... Beef, it's what's for dinner!

7. Wild Salmon. Packed with omega-3 fatty acids. Great for your heart, inflammation, and helps ward off disease!

So there you have it! 7 foods that are great not just for runners but for fitness enthusiasts alike!!

The Bare Necessities

The 17 miler went great. I listened to my body. I drank A LOT of water {emptied Max right at the end}. I went through 4 GU's {three during and one after}. I had a good cool down. I stretched really good. That night I jogged a couple miles and stretched really good again. ALL of those things made a HUGE difference. Today I feel like a million bucks!!

A few things I learned from this one that I better remember for those next few log runs; especially the BIG one... 26.2!

*Bring Chapstick {putting it on before leaving isn't enough}
*Wear Sunscreen {even if it's still "winter" and chilly, the sun will still fry me... he did}
*Body Glide {or SOMETHING}

I have a couple weeks before the next big one. I am going to add hills into these shorter runs to prepare myself for the hills on the marathon. I think it's going to make a big difference!

The Long Run

Every runner has a different number in their head as to what is considered a long run. I have been reading "How to Train for and Run Your Best Marathon" by Gordon Bakoulis Bloch. He has some interesting points on all aspects of training but with a 17 miler looming tomorrow I was going over what he had to say about Long Runs. He talks about what goes on with your body when you run long and hard. I'll try to sum up:

There are two main types of fuel that muscles use during physical activity: carbohydrate and fat. He says that in general, the more intense an activity is, the greater is the proportion of carbohydrate used to fuel it. Those activities that are performed at a very low intensity use fat as fuel.

Every pound of fat contains about 3,500 calories worth of energy. Given that, and the fact that running consumes about 100 calories per mile, you could run more than a marathon on the energy that is contained in just one pound of fat.

Carbs are different though. They are stored in two different forms: glucose in the bloodstream and glycogen in the working muscles. The body can only hoard enough carbs to power about 1,500 calories worth of activity.

What does that have to do with the long run? Well Gordon says that the "long run" is running for a time beyond which the body runs out of carbohydrate and must burn primarily fat. For the average aerobically fit person who is NOT training for a marathon that is done between 90 minutes and 2 1/2 hours. When you run out of carbohydrate your pace slows dramatically or you "hit the wall".

Long run help train your body to spare carbohydrate. Burning carbohydrate stores over a long period trains the body to postpone the point at which these stores are exhausted. So with each long run, the body will use more fat and less carbohydrate. Ideally the runner will be able to run the entire marathon without hitting the wall, or at least postpone that point until late in the race.

When ever possible, do those long runs with friends. It makes it so much EASIER MENTALLY! It is beneficial to occasionally run them alone though. It turns the run into more of an exercise in mental concentration.

A few of Gordon's tips for those long runs:
* Eat properly the day before and the morning of {high carb dinner, drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids}
* Get up early
* Make sure you have water available for the entire run
* Know your route in advance
* Wear the right clothes
* You MUST cool down, stretch, shower, change, fuel and hydrate {take 15-20 minutes and lie down}
* Check weather conditions
* Avoid heavy duty activities for right after a long run
* Go to bed EARLY

Looking forward to this 17 miler tomorrow. I little nervous; it is 17 MILES afterall!! But I ended up having a tooth get infected {from a root canal a year ago}; Wednesday the dentist re-drilled the poor tooth to death and I have been MISERABLE since. I'm going to run it either way though!!

I just felt like runnin

I did NOT want to run this morning. I am still fighting this stupid sinus crud so I can't hardly breathe and my head is POUNDING!! But I knew that if I didn't just go then I'd stay in my pj's all day, clean the house, maybe take a nap but I would most certainly NOT be running at all and I knew I'd wish that I had. So I bundled up warm and headed out the door.

I kept it nice and easy, didn't push it... I just ran. I had two cough drops to help with my scratchy and dry throat. I brought Fiona along {see equipment tab} for some mellow tunage. My mind wandered and I thought a lot about why I love runs like this one turned out to be. I hope you like Forrest Gump cause I've got a PLETHORA of quotes for ya!

Those must be comfortable shoes. I bet you could walk all day in shoes like that and not feel a thing. I wish I had shoes like that.

Having good shoes is HUGE! I loved my Nike trail runners that I recently retired. They had great traction, they fit my feet perfectly. They were awesome... and cute too! And so far I am loving my Asics. They are super light and breathable. The shoe laces up differently than I've ever seen on a shoe; they follow the ridge from your big to up to the inside ankle rather than right up the middle. Interesting.

Mama always said there's an awful lot you can tell about a person by their shoes. Where they're going, where they've been.

And what they're involved in! I have to admit that I wish I was able to buy more shoes. Girly high heels, boots, cowboy boots and all sorts of tennies, flats, and casuals. But alas I must forgo the extravagance. For now I am dreaming of a little warmer weather so I can wear my chacos again.

Now, you wouldn't believe it if I told you, but I could run like the wind blows. From that day on, if I was going somewhere, I was running.

I have ALWAYS loved running. From when I was a little kid. And I was FAST! I was that girl that could beat all the boys {not every time but I was ALWAYS in the front of the pack}. I loved field day because I got to do all those races and skunk everybody!! In high school my race was the 800m and the 1600m. I know that some people really don't enjoy running but... I sure do!

Now, it used to be I ran to get where I was going. I never thought it would take me anywhere.

I didn't always run when I was going places, most often I rode my bike. It is true that it will take you not somewhere physically but figuratively too. Running has helped me through tough times, it's fabulous therapy. Running has helped me achieve physical goals and improved my self confidence. Running has changed me and will continue to do so.

That day, for no particular reason, I decided to go for a little run. So I ran to the end of the road. And when I got there, I thought maybe I'd run to the end of town. And when I got there, I thought maybe I'd just run across Greenbow County. And I figured, since I run this far, maybe I'd just run across the great state of Alabama. And that's what I did. I ran clear across Alabama. For no particular reason I just kept on going. I ran clear to the ocean. And when I got there, I figured, since I'd gone this far, I might as well turn around, just keep on going. When I got to another ocean, I figured, since I'd gone this far, I might as well just turn back, keep right on going.

Now I am not ever going to go on a running spree like Forrest did. But I am starting to log some pretty long runs. They are tough. But there is a lot of pride when that run is finished. It's a great feeling to accomplish something like that. Maybe I will run across the county, that seems like a lofty but eventually an accessible goal!

So I really didn't want to go on that run. But it felt great to just go out, take it easy, and it ended up being the most enjoyable run I've had for awhile. And that's ALWAYS a great thing!
